Teaching Tennis in Local Schools

Curriculum coaching, competition and after-school clubs

The Totton & Eling Tennis Centre has a wide-reaching schools programme that delivers a Spring / Summer Roadshow to around 1,000 children in 10 local Primary Schools. The centre also has strong relationships with local Secondary Schools, working with around 300 young people each year. Finally, during the Summer months, inter-schools competitions are held at the centre, involving around 500 children.

Depending on the age of the children, Roadshow sessions can involve basic ball skills, agility and co-ordination development, as well as tennis-specific coaching. Our coaches also provide Continual Professional Development for teachers, and lesson plans are supplied for all sessions.

All coaches are trained to a minimum of Level 2 standard, and are also registered with the National Governing Body (LTA). Totton & Eling Tennis Centre is a fully-approved curriculum sports provider registered with Hampshire County Council. All coaches have Enhanced DBS Disclosures and receive regular schools-specific training.

Sessions can be delivered on the school site (e.g. in the hall / playground), or at the Totton & Eling Tennis Centre.
